Wisdom in Choice

"Use wisely your power of choice."

Og Mandino - American author, (1923 1996)

Choices begin early in life. As adolescents we have a myriad of paths before us in which many choices appear to lead to bright destinations. Seldom do we realize all that hinges on our choices. What does it mean to choose wisely? To make decisions that will not impair our future and limit our options. Be intentional about your life’s path. Wise choices make for safe, enjoyable as well as meaningful travel destinations. We are responsible for putting ourselves where we are. How can you make your next decision a wise one?

Value Your Gifts

"Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses."

Marilyn vos Savant - Columnist

Success is a state of mind. You can either be a success or failure depending on how you view yourself. Begin by listing all of your positive qualities and acknowledging or accepting them as a gift from your Creator. Build upon those strengths by using them in your work, at home and at play. Take the focus off of your weaknesses and shift your efforts toward using what your Creator meant for good. What will be first on your list of strengths?

Inner Power

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. "

Ralph Waldo Emerson - American essayist, lecturer, and poet (1803-1882)

Each of us has a life story full of ups and downs; some events monumental and unforgettable. Many individuals carefully plan out their future with meticulous details. While we each feel our stories are of most importance, ironically, our life’s events are minuscule when we consider the enormous potentials of the inner self. You are so much larger than your past and future! Search deeply within yourself for that incredible inner strength your Creator has graciously provided you.

How would you like to be remembered?

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED?
About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surprise and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news papers had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake. His first response was shock. Am I here or there? When he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him. The obituary read, "Dynamite King Dies." And also "He was the merchant of death." This man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words "merchant of death," he asked himself a question, "Is this how I am going to be remembered?" He got in touch with his feelings and decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered. From that day on, he started working toward peace. His name was Alfred Nobel and he is remembered today by the great Nobel Prize.

Just as Alfred Nobel got in touch with his feelings and redefined his values, we should step back and do the same.

What is your legacy?

How would you like to be remembered?

Will you be spoken well of?

Will you be remembered with love and respect?

Will you be missed?

Be the Artist of your Life

As a society we have been "brain washed" or have chosen to be "brain washed" by society, especially when it comes to the mindset of being an employee and a entrepreneur. As the upcoming generations come to pass we must make changes within ourselves so that they become the best leaders they can be, after all they will run our governments and become our new doctors and politicians.

"Tabula Rasa" (clean slate), as behaviorist theorist call it, believed that humans are shaped by their environment, tabula rasa meaning clean slate is that all humans are born "on a blank canvas" but society paints all over them. In other words humans are shaped to who they are because of their environment. Human thinking process, decisions and outcomes are shaped by everyday leaders such as parents, the media, friends, doctors, teachers and religious figures.

As we are born a clean slate then we should influence our children to become the best they can be. To become business owners not slaves of owners, the days of slavery are gone aren't they? At some extent they are not, we have what is now called "modern day corporate slavery", or as I like to call the hard working people, "corporate zombies". We are taught to go to school get good grades and get a good job, translation equals go to school, get good grades and get a good boss, if your lucky. Because we are shaped by our environment, we must become wise to which environment we want to surround ourselves with. Some people may argue that they don't have an option as to what environment they are born into. That is pretty valid, but taking some responsibility for your life would help in finding other environments that are more suitable for you. Most children in the United States grow up seeing different environments and can see which ones they wish to be in and which ones they live in, so how come most don't change their environment?, well a couple of reasons, we live in a chronically lazy society, we have great comfort zones, contentment without a vision, greed, obsession of different psychological matters, and the list goes on. These are not excuses but rather reasons to get your mindset on the right path to fulfillment in life, have your business while your working, so that one day you can be in the environment that you wished for when you were a kid.

I believe everyday that we wake up, we are blessed with a "tabula rasa" a clean slate, a new beginning, and you're the artist, you can decide how to draw out your life. I will tell you this, it takes will power, guts, and willingness to feel comfortably uncomfortable, until you reach what you want in life. And than and only than your life will be a master piece, accomplished by few and admired by many.

"I don't know if I want to go to College"

If you are like the lady above and do not know what you want to go to college for perhaps you should not waste time, effort, energy and a lot of money on being unsure and enrolling in a school "anyways".

The good old "I'm not too sure what I want to do I'm taking some classes here and there", can cost you thousands of dollars. By the way I assure you if you ask any college student if the classes they are taking is helping in the long term decision making of what they want to eventually graduate with, the answer will most likely be no. According to finaid.org - On average, tuition tends to increase about 8% per year. An 8% college inflation rate means that the cost of college doubles every nine years. For a baby born today, this means that college costs will be more than three times current rates when the child matriculates in college.

Note to Parents: If your child is not sure what he or she wants to go to college for do not force them into enrolling "anyways", besides when they graduate they will most likely not be working in their field of study. This is especially important if you parent do not have a college savings plan for your son or daughter. If you don't they will take out student loans. Take this opportunity to talk and communicate with your child, let them know that there are other options of learning, in fact is probably an even better investment of their time if they use some time to think about what they want to do, while being proactive of course. Oh and this will save you a lot of money.

See giving children, or should I say young adults options is probably a bigger learning investment of their time versus being stuck in academia. Here is why, when we enroll in college, we spend four years of learning systems and theories that after graduation we hope to put into practice, which now a days happens to 2 in 10 college graduates, if they have "connections".

Now lets take a look at what can potentially happen if we reverse it. Why not spend a year or two volunteering in different organizations while perhaps working a part time job to have some income coming in and time to volunteer. Getting exposure is a far more valuable investment of their time, getting to know different issues within their community, church, schools, nursing homes etc... See if they find an injustices and a solution for a problem they will have a bigger incentive to one, become knowledgeable and get educated, and two to become entrepreneurs.  So my question to you is why not invest some time in the practical direct experience which the cost is none to being inexpensive, and then let the young adult decide what he or she wants to do?

By giving the young adult the experience first, they not only do better academically because they see value, and they avoid giving up too soon in college. But they also built a sense of belonging, character and humility.

Note to student: Don't waste time and money in the "I don't know, invest your time and some money in helping and serving your community, there are enough issues and big challenges and the world needs young entrepreneurs to come up with solutions. I challenge you to go out and serve others volunteer and find a need, because the world needs you!

If you disagree let me know I am open to other opinions.

Be Unshakable with your Finances

Worried about money? How will you pay your bills? How will you get out of debt? Well that's how most Americans feel. With unemployed rate at all high and inflation not wanting to stop rising, this becomes a big challenge, a big worry and a big burden..

When it comes to your finances you have to believe that you can get out of debt, you can find a great job, you can start a new career. You can do it. We often hear the old adage that goes something like this, "What you think of you will attract". Do you think that's true? Think about when you opened your mail this morning or evening when coming home from work, how did you react to the statement that read past due? Did you have a sense of worry coming upon you, a sense of feeling sorry for yourself, a sense of desperation? Probably so. Examine your reaction to your finances. If its a positive one then good things will come upon your life, if its a negative one then you will probably get more mail statements say "PAST DUE".

Remember this, no matter how much we educate ourselves on finances, no matter how much workshops we go to and classes we attend, no matter how many books we read to get better and find a solution to our challenges in finances, the key to having financial freedom is very simple, live below your means, sacrifice- yes sacrifice cut off cable, move into a studio apartment (if your single and living in a two bedroom apartment), stop buying because you want it instead of needing it, and above all to reach financial freedom you need to be a open handed servant. Helping others is one of the many fundamentals to financial freedom. When you expose yourself to helping others and become a self-Less person, you discover talents and gifts that you thought you never had, you build great relationships good ones and bad ones, and from the bad ones you always learn. Most importantly you expose yourself to the world and you see things through a different lens a lens of "oh boy someone had it worse then me after all". This is eye opening because you will begin to get ideas, ideas of how you can live a better life a humble life, a turn of events can take place with just one idea, just like many famous people we know did. Who knows maybe you will start your own business or partner up with other organizations. Many things can come out of helping others. Hey you might just find your next job or career opportunity by helping someone out who knows someone else looking for the type of person you are with the gift and talents you have been blessed with.

Join me and my team of experts in the fields of spiritual maturity, christian financial advisers and Americans sharing their success and struggles towards the movement to financial freedom.

Next following topics will be on the Movement to Financial Freedom and how we can train our minds and hearts to become better and receive abundance; we will study Financial Freedom from a spiritual perspective and practical perspective this is great reading for everyone. I am also going to share some research and statistics, practical ways to teach our children about money among other things.
